Oracle fusion recruiting -How to create data model

In this article we will see how to create unsecured data models in oracle fusion recruiting to be used in requisition and offer approvals. Oracle fusion Recruiting Cloud customers can use approval requests for job requisitions or job offers. Business can decide and design how and to whom they can route job requisions or job offers for approval

The content shared with approvers is coming from Business Intelligence Publisher (BIP) reports .It is
always secured using the standard data security covering job requisitions or job offers. This means that to see the content to be approved, the user must have access to the data from a security standpoint.

While this seems normal at first sight, there are customers who might find this too restrictive, because data security must be aligned with the possibility for the user to be asked to approve. Usually, there is no issue because managers have visibility within their hierarchy. But when approvers are outside of the hierarchy, it might be complicated to grant access using either the requisition security profile for job requisitions or the person security profile for job offers.

The wider the access you grant, the more content those users can approve, and the more content they have access to directly from the requisitions list or job offers list. It is possible to keep a strict access in the product, while unlocking the access in the notification content using unsecured BIP
data models.

As a result, when users are asked to approve a requisition or offer, they can only see the content through the notification, through the engine, or if the approval is manually redirected to them. This will not open up access on their daily activities in the requisitions or offers lists

Setting Up the Data Model In Oracle Fusion Recruiting

The key for those unsecured data models is to copy the right data model from the factory and put them to the right place in the Custom Folder. It needs to have the same path. Once copied, the where clauses related to security can be removed from the sql statement, something that is not possible in the delivered data model. The notifications can also be copied and modified, which most customers will do. The steps to set up the data model are:

  1. Archive the data models and notification BIP reports
  2. Create custom folders where appropriate
  3. Unarchive the data models and notification BIP reports
  4. Edit the data model to remove security where clauses
  5. Edit notifications to adjust content (optional step

Once those changes are done, even existing notifications already sent to approvers will now use the new notification templates and the custom data model. The BIP notifications are dynamically generated every time someone opens them.

1.Archive the data models and notification BIP reports

With a user having the BI Admin duty role, go to the appropriate folders:
Shares Folders > Human Capital Management > Recruiting > Job Offer
Shares Folders > Human Capital Management > Recruiting > Job Offer > Data Models
Shares Folders > Human Capital Management > Recruiting > Requisition
Shares Folders > Human Capital Management > Recruiting > Requisition > Data Models
Archive the Job Offer Approval report, the Job Offer DM data model, the Requisition Approval report, and the Requisition DM data mode

2.Create custom folders where appropriate

You need these four folders, with exactly the same structure as defined at the factory level, but under the Custom folder:
Shared Folders > Custom > Human Capital Management > Recruiting > Job Offer
Shared Folders > Custom > Human Capital Management > Recruiting > Job Offer > Data Models
Shared Folders > Custom > Human Capital Management > Recruiting > Requisition
Shared Folders > Custom > Human Capital Management > Recruiting > Requisition > Data Model

If some are missing, you just need to create them

3.Unarchive the data models and notification BIP report

You put the BIP notification reports directly under requisition of job offer, while the data models have to go under their
respective Data Models’ folders.

4.Edit the data model to remove security where clauses

There are three where clauses to remove from the job offer data model, while there is only one to remove from the job requisition data model. Let’s start with the job offer data model. You edit the copied data model, and you have to remove those three where clauses from the three data sets:
Other Compensation > and &pwhereclause_othercomp
Salary > and &pwhereclause_salary
OfferDetails > and &pwhereclause_offer
Do not forget to save the changes after removing those three where clauses

Now you need to change the security for the job requisition data model. A single where clause needs to be removed from a
single data set.
RequisitionDetails > and &pwhereclause

Both the job offer and job requisition are unlocked. Approvers will be able to see the content in their notification no matter their data security and security profiles. Depending on your needs, you might need to unlock only one or the others. The data models are independent of each others

5.Edit notifications to adjust content in Oracle fusion recruiting (optional step)

Now that you have a copy of the approval notifications, you can change their content
